Focus on the Mission, Not the Position

“Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.”  ~Romans 12:2 NIRV

Have you every got so caught up in the task, and not why you are doing the task? I think it happens to everyone, but sometimes we have to stop and gather our thoughts on why we do what we do.

As a Pastor’s Wife, I tend to get caught up in the position, not the “I’m A Pastor’s Wife”, but the to do list. When I start putting a duty list together, I start getting overwhelmed. Here are a few things that go through;

* what if this event is a flop

*what if I can’t make it to so & so’s thing

*am I pleasing everyone

*So & So won’t like this

When I start focusing on what I need to do, negativity starts to set in. My way of thinking becomes a blur. When my way of thinking is blurry, I take everything to heart. You think there is a subliminal message in every conversation, that is against you. Being a Pastor’s wife you do become the weekly/daily suggestion box & the only one who hears “The trash is full”, but the way you choose to take that, depends on if your thoughts are blurred by the position or focused on the mission. When my thoughts are blurred, its time to get them checked. Thank God that He helps correct my thoughts, or I would be in a world of darkness. God doesn’t want that for us.

So we have to Focus on Him and do whatever we need to have our thoughts FOCUSED.

We can’t get caught up in the position, we have to FOCUS on the mission, that God has called us to do. I love what Romans 12:2 says, “Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.” God has giving me a MISSION, and for me to let the POSITION overshadow that is total disrespect to God. God did’t say, “Hey Toni I’m  crowning you with the title of Pastor’s Wife”, He said “I’m Calling you to build my kingdom, & I’m giving you a platform to work from”. Our mission is to build His kingdom, I’m honored He called me. I’m not qualified, but I know God will equip me. When I begin to FOCUS on the MISSION, & not the Position, the task, the suggestion box, & the trash can become 2nd to the Mission. When my thoughts are focused, I can filter the suggestion box, take the trash out, & think positive on every task, all with a smile on my face & joy in my heart.

I am thankful when my thoughts are blurred, the GREAT PHYSICIAN can help get them FOCUSED.

When you are overwhelmed by the POSITION, think in Him, Catch Your Breath & focus on the mission. “His plan is good & pleasing & perfect”

Catching my breath & staying focused.

Love,

A Pastor’s Wife Finding Herself
