1 Corinthians 13 1-3 MSG
“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.
2 If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.
3 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.”
In August of 2012, we started our journey of planting our church, “Faith.Hope.Love”. This last month my hubby has been focusing on the vision of of our church; So in a nutshell here it is:
Faith (Our Message) – We are a faith based church. More than a fellowship, a group of believers who center our lives on the saving power and relationship that comes from Jesus Christ.
Hope (Our Mission) – We are a church that wants to show the world the hope that is in Christ Jesus. That Christ has a plan for their life!
Love (Our Method) – We are a church that will work to center every outreach, every program, and every service on the amazing Love of Jesus! Christ is love and he demands love to flow from his church! We take love seriously and we pray that this would be the identity of our church!
We take love seriously!!! I take love seriously!! God takes love seriously!
When he spoke about the LOVE part of our vision, he used the scriptures from the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13. One of the verses struck me hard. We do all the work, we can help everyone, but if we don’t have love, we are bankrupt!
The sinner will not listen to us if they can’t see the love we have. I don’t want to hate, I want to love. Christ loved!!! I want my children to grow up with a loving & selfless heart. To be Christ like, we need to love. In my opinion filing “chapter 7” in the Love department isn’t an option.
I want people to see the love of God in me. I want to love them UNCONDITIONALLY & EXTRAVAGANTLY. God loved us UNCONDITIONALLY & EXTRAVAGANTLY so much that He sent His son to die for us. Here’s the thing God isn’t asking us to do that, He wants us to love. That seems pretty easy to me. We do & do, we give & give, but without love we are BANKRUPT!
Love this quote:
“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
― Mother Teresa
Webster Dictionary 2nd definition of bankrupt is;
: a person who is completely lacking in a particular desirable quality or attribute
I never want it to say:
: “Toni” who is completely lacking in a particular desirable quality or attribute (LOVE)
King & Country’s Song Proof of Your Love goes so well with this blog. Enjoy!
My prayer is that I never do things without God’s love. Don’t file “chapter 7” in love.
