The Message

1-2 The Word was first,

the Word present to God,

God present to the Word.

The Word was God,

in readiness for God from day one.
John 1:1-2 MSG

I love God’s Word! I love to highlight my bible, I love to write in my bible, & of course I love to read my bible. In our home we have all different kinds of versions of the bible, but my favorite is The Message//Remix, a paraphrase version, some of you may disagree or agree with this version (paraphrase) , that’s ok. Everyone has their favorite.

The reason I love this bible, is because I feel like its a conversation. It’s God telling me in my terms what I need to hear. I don’t want to focus on the version, but more importantly God’s Words.

Like I said before we have alot of different bibles in our house, but I was ready for a new one. My other bible was held together by fashionable duct tape, thanks to my daughter. I could still carry  it and I did, and it already had tons of highlights and notes in it. So if I needed something I could go right to it, but I decided I needed a new one. So I ordered me one. I was so excited the day it came in the mail, I couldn’t wait to start reading it and marking it. It’s not like a new series of a book came out, where people and scenarios change, it was God’s Word, it never changes. When I dig into the Word, God always shows me something different I didn’t see before. God’s Word doesn’t change but God shows us what we need when we need it.

I get my bible, another The Message//Remix, its purple instead of pink, and faux leather, which hopefully will not break like my other. After I get it, I start looking on Pinterest for Bible Journaling ideas. I see so many do it so I thought I should with my new bible. 🙂

While looking on Pinterest a pic pops up of a bible cover that reads; This Book is Illegal in 52 Countries, Restricted Nations: 32, & Hostile Areas: 15. That stat broke my heart, here I am with possibly 20 bibles in one home, and so many people are without God’s Word. I have the opportunity to purchase as many bibles as I want, but 52 countries won’t even allow it. These people need our prayers. So many in our country do not see what precious gift we have. I am so thankful to live in a place where I can read the Word freely. That stat is now in the front of my bible, to remind me how valuable God’s word is. No matter the version/ translation, don’t ever forget the value.

Lord, forgive me if I ever forget the value of Your Word. Thank you for showing me the way & letting me catch my breath as I dig into Your Word.
